Computers – One-Stop Career Centers have dozens of computers available for the public to conduct job searches, apply for jobs online, create resumes, and apply for benefits like Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF), food stamps, and Medicaid.
Fax, copier, and telephones are available for use by job seekers at no charge. For people without telephones, FloridaWorks staff will take phone messages from employers and leave them for job seekers to retrieve. The phone number (352) 244-5644 can be provided to employers as a personal number and will not be identified as belonging to FloridaWorks.
Resume paper, envelopes and other supplies are available without charge to job seekers.
Career counselors and case managers are available to help job seekers make progress on their career paths. This service is available for any working individual who would like to improve his or her skills and income. Career counselors may make referrals to training programs or offer support services.
CONNECT is a program offered by FloridaWorks and the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce for professional-level job seekers with a minimum of an associate's degree or five years experience in an industry. CONNECT meets weekly at 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to provide an opportunity for job seekers to network, gain knowledge of the current job market, and receive an orientation to the services offered by FloridaWorks. Once evaluated, participants are offered one-on-one assistance for review and critique of resumes, evaluation of transferable skills, assisted job searches through EFM, training opportunities and other counseling services.
