The Summer Youth Work Experience is the FloridaWorks employment program funded by more than $590,845 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. The program will provide valuable training and experience in local jobs this summer for 500 young adults. In turn, this program will financially benefit the local economy.
There are both paid and unpaid internships. Paid internships have strict income eligibility requirements that include low income (poverty level for entire family and some other requirements) or a disability and poverty level income for the youth alone (under $10,400 for that one person). After completing training, participants will earn minimum wage for up to 100 hours between June 15 and August 8. Unpaid interns who are interested in work experience with local organizations can also apply.
We are currently accepting applications until May 15, 2009 for both intern sites and for youth interested in becoming interns. These deadlines may be extended if needed. If you are interested in hosting an intern in your place of business, church, non-profit, government agency or other organization, please apply to become an intern site.
